Cairo showcases the magnificence of its Mamluk and Ottoman past through the beauty of its old city filled with an Islamic core of madrassas and mosques, as well as residences and palaces which display its sumptuous imperial legacies. Islamic Cairo beckons with its many mosques such as Al-Azhar, Al Rifai, Ibn Toloun, and Sultan Hassan in Al Khalifa; and Ibn Qalawoon and Mohammed Ali in the Citadel, along with their associated madrassas or schools. There is also Palatial Cairo which can be seen at the Beit Suhaymi on Al Muizz Street, and also at the Gayer Anderson Museum in Al Khalifa and at the Manial Palace.
